The Classic Animes that I Loved then ...

Everybody has favorite cartoon characters and shows; in my case I've had a few, then. I became addicted to watching Cartoons for the reason that my dad didn't want us (my siblings and I) to watch tagalog television shows. Our TV was confined to Cartoon Network only, and I personally enjoyed watching Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Lab, Little Lulu, Captain Planet, Scooby Doo, and all that.

Yes, I grew up with Cartoon Network, and with GMA. As I grew up, I began to be "bewitched" by some of the shows that they used to air many years ago. It was in 1995, as I could still remember, when I began to be so addicted to them, really! The purpose of this write-up is for you to feel young again. This would in a way speak of how well I know the shows as well as the characters way back then.

Let's start with Voltes V.
I remember myself grabbing a ballpen and a piece of paper right after each episode ends; this was the first show that has made me go crazy about making spaceships and robots. Let's talk about the main characters of the series.
This is Steve Armstrong, the eldest son of Dr. Ned and Mrs. Armstrong. Steve is the leader of the Voltes Team and is the one who is flying the Voltes Cruiser, which forms the head of the robot. Adventurous was he, and was overly interested with exploring the world.
Steve, Big Bert, and Little John would eventually get devastated after witnessing how their mother sacrificed her life for them (shown on the third episode).

Mark Gordon lived in California and was actually a Rodeo rider. He is apparently an expert to horseback riding and the one who flies the Volt Bomber which forms the arms of the robot. Mark grew up disliking his mom for the reason that he thought that the latter has abandoned him and his father. Later did he learn that his mom sacrificed her life just to save his and his father's lives.
As I could still remember, Mark got attracted to Jamie, Commander Robinson's daughter. There grew a tension between him and Steve since Steve at the same time likes Jamie.
Mark was my favorite among the five characters, and I was a fan of his and Jamie's tandem. LOL
Big Bert Armstrong is Steve's younger brother, and is the one who flies the Volt Panzer which actually forms the body of the robot. Jo is his expertise and choice of weapon at the same time.
He was the joker of the Armstrong family, and he was fond of teasing his brothers. But he changed after their father disappeared, he also stopped playing with his brothers. He was trained in Martial Arts defense, with the battle staff as his specialty. Big Bert had hoped that his training would actually help him find his father.

Little John Armstrong is the youngest of the Armstrong brothers, and he is the one who flies the Volt Frigate which eventually would form the legs of the robot. An expert was he in aquatic tactics as well as in robotics. This guy happens to be very unfortunate since he was not able to feel the warmth and love of his father. This is because just a few months of his birth, Dr. Armstrong left his family. Little John grew up playing remote-controlled boats, as a matter of fact, he created a small robot named Octo One. He then became the team's expert in repairing and fixing Voltes V whenever it broke down.

Jamie Robinson is the daughter of Commander Robinson. She is the one who flies the Volt Lander which apparently forms the feet of the robot. She at the same time is an expert in the art of the ninja.
She had to develop her senses, body, and mind since it is a tradition to her family. For this reason, she has actually received special training enabling her to develop physical abilities and power.
She  noticed Mark's pain and agony by the time Mrs. Armstrong died. She tried to make Mark tell her how he feels, and she ended up successful.

This still remains to be my favorite series, and as a matter of fact I bought a Voltes V DVD for me to remember what happened, and for me to feel young again. You can watch this still through YouTube. There happens to be one channel that displays all the episodes.

Next on the list is Daimos.
Who could ever forget Richard and Erika's love story? This happens to be one of the sweetest shows on TV that I have ever watched. The plot of the story is just similar to Voltes V, where a fleet of aliens headed by a Bramin prince wanted to invade the Earth and destroy it (except that the aliens in Voltes V were referred to as the Boazanians).
Erika forgets her origin when she tried to save Daimos (she was of course very different from her prince brother). She eventually fell in love with Richard, and then rediscovers that she is a Brahmin. Despite the conflicts between the human race and of the Brahmin. their love for each other remained strong.
Daimos is the robot which Richard pilots, and is the one saving the Earthlings whenever a robot is sent by the Brahmins to attack the Earth.

Next on the list is Lupin III
Oh, who could ever forget this guy? The skinny man who is fond of stealing and of womanizing. His name is Lupin III, the world's greatest thief.
He is also known as the most wanted and skillful thief in the world; Sometimes he just steals whatever he wants, and at other times he prefers to steal from disreputable people. And although he gets imprisoned occasionally, he still manages to find a way to escape. He often appears incompetent, but it is mostly a disguise. While he has been arrested and thrown in jail on a number of occasions he has always managed to escape. He also has a fondness for fancy gadgets from time to time.
There was this one time when I got admitted to the hospital, and I can totally remember that the episode was really hot; I dont know what its title was, but it was completely hot. As hot as the photo above.

Last is Mojacko.
I honestly and personally could not forget this one. Mojacko has taught me to imagine myself flying a saucer. I couldn't remember much of its episodes since I was so young at that time, but I can tell that this was kinda techie. It generally speaks of Sorao's adventures with Mojacko and Dono. They usually go to the different planets and fix problems. Sorao is just an ordinary kid that gets to meet Mojacko due to an accident.

I just simply miss the shows which we used to watch before. Despite the fact that graphics were poor back then, the stories were completely amazing! I miss being a kid. These shows help me somehow to think about the good old days. Yes, it is necessary to move on, but it wouldn't hurt if you keep on remembering. Besides, these do not make you feel old. :)

As I get to think of those days, tears begin to form in my eyes. I miss being a kid. Too bad, we can't turn back time.
